Scientific biography
In 1971 graduated from the Department of Physics in Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) with Highest Distinction and Award for best Graduate Student Project. Since 1971 till 1973 he was a Research-Engineer and Senior Research-Engineer at Space Instrumentation Scientific Research Institute in Moscow. After graduating from post-graduate classes at the Department of Physics in MSU, he got in 1977 his Ph.D. degree in Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics. His Ph.D. project title was “Control of optic beams by means of Bragg diffraction in optically anisotropic media”. Since 1976 he was Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor at MSU carrying out research and teaching activities. Professor Voloshinov published about 200 papers in scientific journals in Russia and abroad (Electronics and Communication Physics, Quantum Electronics, Optics and Spectroscopy, Acoustical Physics, Technical Physics Journal, Uspekhi Fiz. Nauk, Applied Optics, Optics Express, Optics Letters, Optical Engineering, Journal of Optics A: Pure and Applied Optics, Journal of Lightwave Technology, Acta Acustica, Ultrasonics, Journal of Acoustical Society of America, Optics Communications et al.) He made presentations at many National and International conferences and published about 200 papers in proceedings of these conferences. Professor Voloshinov gives lectures to Graduate and Post-graduate Students of MSU on the following educational courses: “Physical Basics of Electrooptics and Acousto-optics”, “Modern Problems of Acousto-optics”, “Acousto-optic Interaction in Anisotropic Media”, “Optical Communication”. He also gave invited lectures in Russia, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Poland, Belgium, France, China, Columbia, Germany and USA.

Professor Vitaly B. Voloshinov is one of the leading experts in the world in the field of Acousto-optics. He published about 400 scientific papers and he is the owner of 8 National patents. Voloshinov was a supervisor of many National and International research projects and grants (CRDF, RFBR, etc.). He also supervised more than 50 Graduate Student research projects and 12 Ph.D. projects. He was a member of Organizing and Program Committees of many scientific conferences and was selected as Invited Editor in a few International Journals.
